Essay + Five Images
Thursday, March 12, 2009 // 11:05 PM
During BTT today, we basically played around with the five images we retrieved. I didn't have any images since I don't have a camera. Instead, the people who didn't bring the images were told to write an essay about the reason we use Photoshop and why it is helpful and essential in this world of technology. Teachers constantly belittle this nifty invention simply because most of them are ignorant of its potential greatness, if used correctly & for the right reasons.

These essays will be uploaded onto a site so the teachers will have access to it and can educate themselves on all the aspects of Photoshop and how it has helped our world advance greatly in all technological aspects. It can prepare you for the future, since many jobs these days require some background in computers and photo design and editing would be an appealing addition to your resume.

Even better, now you can literally create your image without having to cut down one tree! Simply create it on Photoshop and use it for whatever you need without having to ever stress out about a lawsuit. I know there are many people who consider Photoshop as a hobby and love to spend hours creating away on their computers. And this is a wonderful hobby since it provides you with practice for a skill highly desired in the computer industry and it also puts you up there with highly skilled professionals.

Photoshop is also for people like myself, who cannot draw even stick figures to save their life. Basically, Photoshop does all the work and you just command it on what to do. Imagine what Leonardo Da Vinci could have done with this tool! Mona Lisa in three months, anyone? Unlike the days he was born, where artists spent tens of years trying to complete a masterpiece to only sell it once, Photoshop allows you to create duplicates to sell it over and over and over again!

And it goes against two classic lessons: you can't go back in time & you can't undo your mistakes. Actually, you can with a click of a button! The nifty "Undo" button allows Photoshop artists everywhere to sleep at night knowing that they could always change a certain effect, filter, text, and more.
(I'm pretty sure that if Leonardo Da Vinci drew a moustache on the Mona Lisa by accident, he would be screwed.)

What's even better is that you can save your image in various stages of completion and if you don't like your final product, simply close it and choose one of the stages you saved and try again! And don't even get me started on layers!

So think about it teachers, we as brilliant, hard-working (money-starved) students, would we really waste such an amazing tool to draw a beard on the teachers we dislike instead of creating masterpieces we could possibly sell for millions? Honestly, what a joke! So the next time you think we're doing something bad on Photoshop, please take into consideration all the points I've presented today and realize that the world doesn't revolve around you (Just kidding). :P

AND a great shoutout to Joanna who saved me from not writing this blog entry/essay rough draft, which would've lead to failing BTT, which THEN would've lead me to me becoming a bum on the street panhandling for money to buy a burger at McDonalds.

Now, I'm going to try to do my homework from other classes and not fail them too,
- Serena
